Say Thank You.

This of course is generally relevant to everything, but I’m referring to work environments in particular.

When in doubt, always say thank you.  Today I had a brief instant where somebody did something for me just in the flow of the workday, and I almost wrote it off to “part of the job” - and then I had a flashback to working for somebody who said “thank you” about once every two years and everything else was “expected”.   I immediately stopped, went back to the person and said thanks - it’s a little thing, but if you’ve ever spent time working for somebody that never said it, it’s one of those work-morale things that goes a looooong way.

Thanks for reading.

Being polite in general has been lost at some point. I think it not only had to do with our great parents’ teachings but also where we grew up where that was just normal to us. Being in a city now it’s sad how miserable some people are going through the day being rude.

PS: Funny u brought this up I yelled at a guy being rude in a sub shop today for waiting ten minutes for a sub.

Thank you, Please, Sir, Maam: Workplace or homeplace.

Another good habit is 3 minutes for everyone every day. Their kids recital, husband’s homerun, wife’s job may not be high on your list but it is tops on theirs. Listen to their lives and the rest of the day will be smoother. And you might learn something. Put your pencil or your mouse down and listen.

Remember “Harvey” with Jimmie Stewart: “In life you must be oh so smart or oh so nice.” We mostly start out trying to be smart. There is always someone smarter and faster coming from the pack. Nice works forever. Fast slows, sharp dulls. Thank you, Please, Sir, Maam, Listening do not age.

You are learning quicker than I did. Told you someone smarter was always coming out of the pack.
